Artist's Comments

Photo intended to be worked for website (as a gallery) or promotional flyer for a brazilian martial art called Capoeira. Picture taken by friend (both of us worked on it), model is me. Please keep in mind it was done outdoors, so there wasn't a lot of emphasis on photo technique or any other serious considerations. It was just for fun...

Was fun to see the concept of symmetry (not fully, the cord on the left side for example), just wanted to post it.
I gotta confess I erased to zits from my back, hehe :)
Original on scraps.

Thank you very much, I didn't know if I should have posted it. I thought it was simple, but that became what I ended up liking about it. Plus I think it was kind of funny, cause it showed the belt hanging from the side, and the dirty pants (that's for training, haha), and that eventhough it is supossed to be symmetrical (which wasn't in my head back then), the lightning is different, showing the shadows or dark in the left, and light on the right (kinda sounds mysterious, ain't it, haha). In that pose I was actually stretching, before doing some moves for a photo shoot. Thank you for your comments! And for thinking it's cute. Take care, bye! :)

Thank you, I really appreciate your nice words. I gotta give credit to my friend too, that help me with the picture. The thing I liked the most was that even though it is supposed to be symmetrical, the belt is hanging from the side, the pants are dirty, and the light is different in both sides of my back. Left is dark, and right is light (a little bit mysterious ain't it, haha), I liked it too because it shows a different side of the Martial Artist, which is kinda like the subtle side. You know, a guy that is just stretching (a simple activity, though vital in the sport), probably exausted because of the trainng, and with the pants dirty after working out, hehe. In a more deeper thought, I like it because it just represents the end of another trial of physical challenging, that takes to a more spriritual path, that is relaxing. Like the calm after sthe storm, in complete submission. Resting the tired body, getting a sense of comfort and satisfaction after a long day.
In one word...Submission to the ART.
Thank you again for your kind comments, that just motivate me. Take care, bye!

p.s. this picture was for both, an Anthropology class assignment (traditional activities people perform in groups, even though in the picture I'm alone), and for promotional pictures for the web page and flyers. But it also became a personal photo shoot, of something I love with all my hearth. Hehe, you've got me all emotional now, like meditating ha! :meditate:

I hope it inspired something good on you too, ciao. :)

Well, I'm glad you see it that way because most people don't see things this anymore. I liked to believe that as a martial artist and just another fellow citizen of the world, i must follow the way of the peaceful warrior. And I'm not saying this just to glorify anything, be it peace, or goodness, and much much less (like 1,000,000 times x10) myself. I just say it, because it goes with my beliefs. So yes, I believe in goodness, I'll usually try to turn the other cheek, cause I think goodness is the way to go. And I guess as a person, that's my philosophy (if there is such a thing). In a way that was something I wanted to inspire, probably more unconsciously than conscious, because I believe goodness should be done unconsciously, in a perfect world, haha. That's why I love art, I think it help you express things in that way too, but I admit it's also great sometimes to go straight to the point. Thanks for your great review, it was really human and honest, I appreciate that a lot. Thank you very very much!!!
:thanks:  :bye:
